Yoga Nidra is a great treasure – a potent meditative resource for healing, insight and empowerment. It enables us to enter a state of consciousness in which we are invited to re-encounter the essential truth of who we really are. It also provides us with the opportunity to experience deep freedom …
Yoga Nidra (or conscious sleep) is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, which far surpasses that of collapsing in a chair with a nice cup of tea!
The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) – the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness. As we rest here, we can turn our attention easily and effortlessly to the very nature of awareness and consciousness. We start to experience the ‘deeper’ features of yogic teachings that previously we perhaps considered intangible, such as feeling our interconnected wholeness and becoming aware of our true, unified nature – expansive, inclusive, and deeply restful.
The practices are offered for you to use freely. They are a collection taken from the students final teaching shares from my Teacher Training courses, from my personal store and also those offered freely from the beautiful Yoga community I am honoured to be a part of. Everyone who has taken the time to record and offer practice whole heartedly agrees as I do that Yoga Nidra is indeed a great treasure!
